When we arrived at the location for this shoot with our model and equipment we found that we had a problem. The black bag which we had collected from school had the white backdrop in the bag instead of the photography lamps which we had booked. Despite this happening we filmed all of the shots which we had originally planned as even though the poor lighting would be mean the footage couldn't be used in the video , it would act as a good starting point for improving in the future.
Opening Shot
For the opening scene fran will be ripping off her handcuffs in order to 'set herself' free and be able to get up to the antic which which she does in the video . We filmed this shot from a few different angles; a close up against the white wall , a mid shot , excluding head , of her sitting down breaking them apart and a high angle mid shot looking down onto her her legs and hands held out in front of her. Despite trying some different angles to the one which we originally planed , we have agreed that the one that we like the most is the close of up her hands only as we originally planned. This is the most mysterious of the shots which we were aiming to achieve as we wanted her identity to be kept uncover for the first few seconds of the video , this way you are aware that she is a 'bad girl' before you even see what she looks like as you see her breaking off her handcuffs.
As planned we shot our model writing on the mirror , this is while she is in the process of getting ready we see her putting on her shoes lipstick etc. These have been filmed as an over the shoulder shot as if we are looking at it from her point of view and seeing things the way that she does . Doing this near the beginning of the video allows the viewer to feel as if they are getting to know the main character. Seeing her writing on the mirror shows a sense of rebellion.
Face Close Up
Whilst at the house which had a white interior , we decided to take advantage of this and use one of the walls as a white background in order to film a close up of Fran as we has previously researched.
The purpose of these shots is to introduce the main model to the viewers now that they have already got an impression of what she is like. A close up shot like these allow the viwer to feel they are getting up close to her as well as them being perfect for showing off the striking facial features that she has. It is also the perfect type of shot to show off the teeth grills that she is wearing. These are now a popular accessory in many 'rebellious' music videos of similar style to our own and portray wealth of the artist. The licking of the lips shows off a more promiscuous side to her that she will be displaying at different points later in the video. I am very happy with these shots as they are a good way to open the video , giving an insight into the models personality. They are extremely flattering shots of her and when we have the correct lighting they will be even better, highlighting her structure.
Mirror Shots
As planned we shot our model writing on the mirror , this is while she is in the process of getting ready we see her putting on her shoes lipstick etc. These have been filmed as an over the shoulder shot as if we are looking at it from her point of view and seeing things the way that she does . Doing this near the beginning of the video allows the viewer to feel as if they are getting to know the main character. Seeing her writing on the mirror shows a sense of rebellion.
Another stage of her getting ready which we had already planned to film was her putting her shoes on . We had decided on doing this as we wanted the viewer to have a moment to focus on the shoes that she was wearing as the high flat-form trainers are slightly original and add to her character therefore we wanted the viewer to take a moment to notice them. Originally we planned to film this shot, straight on from the right , however when we were in our location this was not possible as it would have been looking out of a window and we wanted to be able to see the white walls of the room. As we could not do this we attempted the shot at two different angles as can be seen in the shots above. Collectively we have decided that despite planning a side on shot , the most effective was the one that was filmed from nearly front on angle. This shot allowed us to film with a mirror in the background which reflected the light from the room into the shot.
At the location we a was at for the house , there was also a bush which had an opening and was fitting for the scene we planned for Fran and 'friends' to come out of looking as if they had done something they was not suppose to. As we had not originally planned to film this scene today we did not have the other people to come out of the bush with her as well; however this scene worked well as her being on her own made it look more mysterious. When we re-film this we will attempt it with one other person with her however not the large group of people that we originally planned as this would not be as discrete and sneaky which is the look we are trying to achieve.
When we had the original idea to film someone on a swing to express that they were still a child at heart , it was going to be an extra and not Fran . However after she came out of the bush alone it made sense for it to be her as on the swing which was in the same place as this would show continuity in the video. The angles which we planned to film this shot from were also unrealistic as we were not able to control the mise en scene of other peoples cars parked in the background if we filmed this from the left. We therefore filmed this straigtht on and the bush which she also comes out of in the video ( see above shot) was in the background. We filmed this in two different ways but both from the same angle. We see her moving backwards and forwards on the swing as well as moving from side to side; both while she is standing on it. This shot expresses that she is still young at heart however also displays rebellion as she is not using the swing in the correct way.
