General Digipack Cover Research

We feel as if our video has a very distinct style and target audience that it will be appealing to. It is important that we find the right style of artwork so create for our artists single in order to attract the right audience by capturing the feel of the video in the artwork, which is normally seen before the video.

In order to do this we have looked at a range of different covers in order to find a style most fitting for ours.

  • A black and white cover would not be fitting for our cover due to the prominent colour scheme of bright  red , white and black throughout the video
  • The model not making eye contact with the camera is not very engaging
  • The bold title in a clear fold makes it easy to read and distinguish the artist
  • The fonts of the artist and title not matching looks inconsistent and messy
  • The body position of the artist would not work for our cover due to it being too complex for the simplicity and forwardness of our model. However this shows a good amount of the artists body in terms of close up

  • A close up , forward facing shot with eye contact is engaging for the audience
  • Lots of colours on the cover would not work for us , we should stick to our strict colour scheme of black , white and red
  • The border around the edge is distracting and it would be a better cover if it was just the middle section
  • The complex font is not that easy to read and the colour is too near to the light background

  • Head shot and clear eye contact is something that would work well for our cover due to our models striking facial structure
  • Colour matching between the colour used on the lips , eye make up and colour of the font giving the cover a well finished look
  • The artist name at the top and the title at the bottom makes it look more like a portrait than a CD cover

  •  A lot of colours being used makes it look very busy and distracts attention away from the artists picture
  • The artists name being right at the top of the page makes it slightly invisible.
  • A long shot of the body facing backwards is not very engaging and looks like shes turning her back on the audience

  • This is a cover which would work well for an established artists.
  • This would more as reminder advertising for an artists that does not need a large amount of promotion and would therefore would not work for an emerging artist like ours.

  1. Good. Straightforward and simple initial research. Now, of course, i need to see where you will go with this.
